Diabetic Gastroparesis Digital Hub

Diabetic gastroparesis is a chronic and debilitating condition that is characterized by delayed gastric emptying in the absence of medical obstruction that affects up to 40% of patients with diabetes. As the number of diabetes diagnosis increases, the rate of hospitalizations secondary to diabetic gastroparesis rose by 138% from 1995 to 2004.

The pathology of gastroparesis is poorly understood, and the condition is frequently misdiagnosed, leading to afflicted patients suffering from a plethora of symptoms, reporting poor quality of life, and frequent hospitalizations. Treatment has been suboptimal and unchanged over the last 40 years, with a single FDA-approved medication for gastroparesis; however, as knowledge about diabetic gastroparesis increases, new drug targets are being discovered, and clinician education is needed to adequately serve patients who suffer from diabetic gastroparesis.

CME Outfitters has developed this Diabetic Gastroparesis Hub to provide clinicians and patients with the much needed education and resources for improving diagnosis and management of diabetic gastroparesis.
