Statement of Need

The burden of disease associated with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection is significant. The statistics are staggering, as a broad cohort of individuals remain undiagnosed, not immunized, and untreated. Addressing the gaps in screening, treating, and monitoring requires active engagement from all members of the health care team—primary care providers, specialists, advanced practice professionals, nurses, and pharmacists. In their role as teachers, advisors, watchdogs, and “nudges,” pharmacists must be prepared for questions from patients and communication with providers.

This CMEO webcast features expert faculty discussing the ways pharmacists can best engage with at-risk patients to promote screening for HBV.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this CME/CE activity, participants should be able to initiate discussions with at-risk patients to promote screening for HBV in the primary care setting.
