Complicated urinary tract infections (cUTIs) represent an important and growing challenge in clinical practice, affecting individual patients’ health and quality of life while exerting a substantial burden on the healthcare system. Despite being common, these infections are underrecognized. The July 2025 Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) and concurrent EAU guidelines have redefined the classification of UTIs, emphasizing severity, resistance risk factors, and patient-specific considerations, allowing for more precise diagnosis and treatment selection. It is, therefore, imperative for clinicians and care systems to update their approach to diagnosing, treating, and transitioning care for patients with cUTI.
In this CME Outfitters live webcast, expert faculty will guide learners through the burden of cUTI on individual patients and the broader healthcare system, identify opportunities for improved care and outcomes for patients with cUTI through the utilization of up-to-date guidelines and new and emerging antibiotic therapies, and help ensure that patients with cUTI are treated in the appropriate healthcare setting and are transitioned seamlessly between inpatient and outpatient care.
