Statement of Need

This global discussion among experts in Asia, Europe, and North America focuses on reducing delays in treatment for hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), and hepatitis D (HDV) by addressing current gaps in screening, including the underuse of evidence-based diagnostic pathways across Asia, Europe, and North America. Current international recommendations and recent regional guideline updates will be reviewed to support practical, scalable improvements in screening and diagnosis to improve patient care. The goal: to translate what we can do into what we consistently do in clinical practice.

This CME Outfitters Snack activity is the first in the four-part series Linking Knowledge to Action: Empowering HCPs in Screening and Treatment of Patients Across the Viral Hepatitis Spectrum. The series is led by moderators Su Wang, MD (USA) and Heiner Wedemeyer, MD (Germany), with expert discussants Jean-Michel Pawlotsky, MD, PhD (France), Maria Buti, MD, PhD (Spain), George Lau, MD (Hong Kong) and Debika Bhattacharya, MD (USA).

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Interpret the latest global guidelines appropriately for the screening and diagnosis of viral hepatitis infections (HBV, HCV, and HDV) to improve time to treatment initiation from diagnosis

This program has been supported by an independent educational grant from Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Global (US, Europe, Asia) physicians, physician associates (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), nurses and pharmacists in primary care and specialty settings (focus on ID and hepatology), addiction clinics, reproductive/sexual health clinics, and those HCPs serving vulnerable communities, immigrants, and refugees
