Statement of Need

As HIV prevention strategies continue to evolve, healthcare professionals across the globe face persistent knowledge gaps in evaluating and integrating the latest pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) options, including long-acting injectable (LAI) agents. Many clinicians worldwide remain unfamiliar with the mechanisms of action (MOA), tolerability and safety profiles, and administration considerations associated with newer PrEP formulations, limiting their ability to tailor prevention strategies to specific patient needs. This lack of up-to-date training contributes to underutilization of PrEP, missed prevention opportunities, and ongoing disparities in care delivery. Education is needed for HIV/infectious disease (ID) specialists, primary care providers, pharmacists, and other frontline clinicians across the globe to strengthen their understanding of emerging PrEP options and improve evidence-based, patient-centered HIV prevention worldwide.

In the second activity of this CME Outfitters Snack series, expert faculty from the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia will discuss the latest information on PrEP options for HIV, including efficacy, safety, MOAs and modes of administration.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:

  • Evaluate the latest data on PrEP options including efficacy, safety, MOAs, and mode of administration

Financial Support

This program has been supported by an independent educational grant from Gilead Sciences, Inc.

Target Audience

HIV/infectious disease (ID) specialists, primary care/general practice physicians, physician associates (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), nurses, and pharmacists in key regions globally: United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia
