Unlike many other cancers, rates of anal cancer and death due to anal cancer are rising in the United States. The increasing incidence is primarily seen in high-risk populations including men who have sex with men (MSM) and people living with HIV (PLWH). This increase in incidence in these populations is occurring despite the existence of several strategies aimed towards preventing anal cancer, including reducing the risk of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection through safe sex practices and vaccination, smoking cessation programs, anal cancer screening, and removal of anal cancer precursor lesions.
In this CME Outfitters Live Q&A, expert faculty and a patient advocate will answer questions on clinical experience, study information, updates to guidelines, resources, and how to integrate sensitive and respectful discussions about anal cancer risk, prevention, and screening into everyday clinical workflows to improve outcomes for patients at high risk for anal cancer.
