Statement of Need

Building on the patient case introduced in Part 1, this CME Outfitters Snack takes learners through the next steps in evaluating Mr. B, a patient with relatively normal liver function tests but an indeterminate Fibrosis-4 (FIB-4) score. Faculty explore how to apply non-invasive tests within guideline-recommended diagnostic pathways to clarify disease stage and guide management. Discussion includes the roles of magnetic resonance elastography, vibration-controlled transient elastography (FibroScan), and the Enhanced Liver Fibrosis (ELF) score, with practical insights on interpreting and integrating results into evidence-based management. The faculty also review the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) recommendations, outline when liver biopsy may or may not be warranted, and touch on emerging, less commonly used non-invasive liver disease assessments.

This second of four CME Outfitters Snacks features metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) / metabolic-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) experts Monica Tincopa, MD, and Amreen Dinani, MD.
