Despite national recommendations, PrEP remains underutilized in many clinical settings because clinicians often lack confidence, time, and practical workflows to consistently identify candidates and act on eligibility findings. Routine care frequently omits a structured sexual health history and assessment, leading to missed opportunities to recognize patients who could benefit from PrEP, while uncertainty about which clinical, behavioral, and demographic factors should prompt initiation contributes to inconsistent decision-making and inequitable access. An interactive CME activity is needed to help clinicians integrate guideline-recommended PrEP eligibility evaluations into everyday practice—normalizing concise, patient-centered sexual health history-taking and assessment—and to strengthen skills in selecting appropriate individuals for PrEP initiation so that eligible patients are identified earlier, counseled effectively, and started on PrEP promptly and appropriately.
This CME Outfitters program will incorporate an interactive decision-tree tool to help clinicians apply evidence-based strategies in real time. Decision trees transform complex guidelines into practical, case-based pathways that clarify when to adjust therapy and integrate emerging treatments. By engaging clinicians in realistic scenarios, this format addresses integrating guideline-recommended evaluations for PrEP eligibility, as well as Strategies for selecting appropriate individuals for PrEP initiation.
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to better:
