David C. Steffens, MD
David C. Steffens, MD, MHS is Professor and Chair of Psychiatry at the University of Connecticut Health Center. He received his undergraduate degrees in Biochemistry and Spanish at Rice University and his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Dr. Steffens completed his psychiatry training at Duke University, where he spent 20 years as faculty. Dr. Steffens has a strong clinical and research interest in geriatric affective and cognitive disorders. He is the author of over 250 peer-reviewed articles and has co-edited a leading textbook on geriatric psychiatry. Clinically, he sees patients at the UCONN Psychiatry Clinic, where he specializes in care for depressed patients and for demented patients with psychiatric and behavioral problems. Dr. Steffens is the immediate past President of the American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry.
