Advanced surgical techniques along with a wide variety of topical hemostatic agents have allowed many surgeries to be performed in the hospital outpatient department (HOPD) or ambulatory surgery center (ASC). Nevertheless, these procedures require the same level of hemostatic planning and preparation as in-hospital surgeries. In this first of three CMEO Snacks, Dr. James Dowdell and his team review classes of hemostatic agents and the types of procedures they are typically used for.
At the end of this CME/CE activity, participants should be able to assess the role of topical hemostatic agents for specific types of bleeding in hospital outpatient and ambulatory surgical procedures.
Supported by an educational grant from Pfizer Inc.
Physicians, PAs, NPs, and nurses specializing in surgery, orthopedics, and/or otolaryngology.
